TiVo Mobile, wtf.
I love Tivo.
We have comcast in the area that does HDTV recording. I tried that for about 3 days and returned it — it was really a terrible user experience and I really didn’t want to try to “get use to it”. So, I spent a boatload of money on a Series 3 just so that I can continue having the best user experience (note to self: use similar argument when attempting to get “wife approval” for the iphone).

Anywayz, the Tivo does some “in user interface” ads for features that might be useful to you such as their partnership with Amazon to allow you to buy and rent movies called Unbox. Last night I noticed that they were advertising Tivo Mobile. I guess I missed the rambling about this last year.

I guess, the WTF part of this post is why is this Verizon only and why should it have to be a revenue tool for Verizon/Tivo. Access to my Tivo from anywhere in the modern world via what ever device I have should be something that I take for granted, not something I should pay 1.99 per month for.
In any case, if you have a high end phone, this whole service is pointless as you can simply use the web.
Tivo, if you are reading…. publish remote scheduling APIs so that you wouldn’t have to mess around with entering partnerships with operators, you will enable a huge body of developers that can build crazy good apps, and you would make one “dougt” very happy.

Only problem with Series 3 & cablecards is that OnDemand and PPV won’t work (at least not until the cards are two-way).
I’d rather hold out for Comcast to roll out TiVo software for their Moto DVRs!
/me watches mrz hold his breath while he tivo’s shows in HD.
